M1A1 Thompson

Anyone who grew up playing war games in the early 2000's know this gun, it was in every WW2 game, usually in the hands of the Americans. Others have seen it in the hands of mobsters, usually with the forward grip and iconic drum magazine. The drum magazine was perfect for unloading a lot of rounds without pause, but it was unwieldy, so the US Military chose to forego the drum in favor of more compact stick mags. That is the version I have chosen to recreate.

When this firearm first hit the field of use it was actually the first weapon to be called an "SMG" or, "Sub Machine Gun", it was perfect for soldiers to carry around as it was designed to fire pistol rounds. Combine that with the double stack magazine, a soldier could carry a lot of ammo on them, ensuring their ability to remain active on the field of battle. 

The historical importance and iconic look of the Thompson is the sole reason I have made this asset available for anyone who might want it for their project.

What comes with it?

There are multiple files that come with this asset, listed below.

• Left and Right sides of the firearm which feature different visuals such as an ejection port and shell casings accurately falling on either side upon ejection.

• Static versions of the weapon which can be used when it is not firing.

• Empty versions of the weapons where the mags are either in, or out. When out, the mags also have a fully loaded version, and an empty version. This is perfect for creating a reload animation with your character assets.

• A projectile. This will be used after firing, it is perfect for assigning speed and damage values to for balancing.

What's next?

This is my first attempt at drawing and animating a gun, If people enjoy this, I am open to updating the model with things such as a drum magazine, a foregrip, reload animations, and other things people may suggest down in the comments. It will all be released for free for existing owners.
